About Oakbox
Last updated 29 September 2026
Oakbox is an AI document assistant made by factiii llc in San Antonio, Texas. You put documents in, it reads every page, and you ask questions about them in your own words. The answer comes from your own files, and Oakbox shows you which document it read.
1. Who makes it
Oakbox is a product of factiii llc, a limited liability company registered in San Antonio, Texas 78254, United States. It was founded by Jon Snyder, who writes about it at x.com/JonSnyderHQ. Oakbox runs on the same servers and the same accounts as Factiii, the company's other product; an Oakbox account is a Factiii account.
2. What it is
Oakbox is an AI document organizer for the paperwork of ordinary life: bills, letters, statements, insurance and medical records. You add a file, or take a photo of the letter in front of you, and Oakbox reads what is on every page, including the text inside a photo. From then on you find a document by what it says rather than by what you called it, and you can ask a question the way you would ask a person.
It was released on the web on 20 September 2026 and runs in your browser today, on a phone or a computer. The iPhone and Android apps are built and on their way to the App Store and Google Play; one account and one plan cover the web and the apps.
3. Your files and AI
Two things are worth knowing before you add a file. First, Oakbox uses AI to read your files: when you add one, its text — or, for an image, the picture itself — is sent to Anthropic or OpenAI so a model can tag it, and the relevant text is sent again when you ask a question. We use their business offerings, under which what we send is not used to train their models.
Second, your files are private to your account but they are not end-to-end encrypted. They are stored on servers in the United States, everything in transit is encrypted with TLS, and nothing you put in Oakbox is published, shown to another user, or used to train any model. But our systems can read your files, because reading them is how search and answers work. If that is not acceptable for a particular file, do not put that file in Oakbox. The Privacy Policy says who holds what, why, and for how long.
4. What it costs
Oakbox needs Premium, which comes with 10 GB. Bigger storage plans run from 50 GB to 6 TB, every one includes Premium, and every plan includes Trons each month — the credit Oakbox spends when it reads a file or answers a question. The figures are on Pricing.
5. Reaching a person
Email support@oakbox.me. A person reads it, and we answer within two business days, usually sooner. Support says what to include and how billing, refunds and account recovery work.
